Two days event (9th and 10th September 2011)
National Campaign entitled: Know the sea…Know yourself
Venue of the event: seaport of Savona

The two days event obtained the patronage by local authorities (Region of Liguria, Province of Savona, Municipality of Savona) that directly participated throughout their territorial offices concerning the issues of the Campaign (social services, youth policies, environment, culture, etc.). Moreover, the initiative has seen the active participation of several Volounteer Migrants Associations such as USEI (Ecuador), Gli Amici del Mediterraneo (Tunisia, Moroc, Egypt and India) and Amici Romania-Italia (Romania) that presented their social and intercultural activities using three stands during the event. Assonautica (Sailors Association of the port of Savona) offered its seat and two gazebos to show the main aspects on how to conduct a sail boat (safety, knots, winds, etc). The Non Profit Association “Matti per la vela onlus”, which has already been involved in several social activities towards young with few opportunities, migrants and disabled people, has contributed  through a 12 metres sail boat and a professional skipper to coordinate the sea trips during the event. The Port Authority of Savona, that gave its patronage, has sent some officers to the presentation of the campaign to support all the activities inside and outside the port itself.

The title of the Italian campaign has been chosen by consensus by all youngsters participating in the first workshop on intercultural dialogue, to underline the fundamental link between the sustainable development and cultural diversity. Knowing and respecting the sea, being able to interpret its various faces and extraordinary richness, it means recognizing and appreciating all the cultures living together on the sea, throughout dialogue and collaboration.
